Colin grew up in Southern Maryland and Alabama, equally, where he was introduced to the outdoors. His love grew for the outdoors upon attending Air Force Survival School in northern Washington where he was forced to become intimately familiar with the beauty and harshness of the wilderness. That love continued through his Air Force career and, up exiting the military, he embarked on several extended trips through the Rockies, one with his father, both living off the backs of their motorcycles.

Colin has always tried to express his creative side through art, designing and painting logos for his military units, photographing and videoing all his expeditions, but never could express the feeling of being in the place through photo or video. He found the concept of plein air painting and was hooked, creating pieces on every trip he went on and using those for future studio work. He continues his passion for travel, and sharing his travels through paintings, from his home near Travelers Rest, South Carolina, where he lives with his wife and school-aged son.
