When we traveled to Scotland, my son’s only request was to see the Jacobite. Along with about 1000 other people packed into a parking lot and then onto a hillside together, we gathered to watch the train make its iconic journey across the viaduct at Gelnfinnan. It was a misty/rainy day but I think there were so many midges that the rain could not get to us. That was our first real experience with midges and, I guess since they are Scotland’s only predator, they make it count.
